You’re going through Chicago, no wait, Philly, no wait…

Whee in Philly!Well, after a bunch of drama and an amazingly cool wedding, I’m back in Denver.

For those of you who didn’t know, I flew out to Hartford, CT to attend and photograph a friend’s wedding in Guilford, VT.

Who would’ve guessed that United could get our bags stuck behind the door they jammed on the rear of the airplane. Doesn’t anyone design a second door into the baggage compartments? These are the questions you ask as you’re told you’re going to Philly and your luggage is sticking around Denver for a few more hours.

So, I got there at about 11pm that night (should have been about 5pm). My luggage arrived about 5:30pm the next night.

But all-in-all it was a great trip and a very cool wedding.

Oh, and I hate United.

Yet another basement status

Finished the laundry room wall and the front wall of the utility room (where the furnace and water heater live).

I also cleaned up a bunch of stuff that’s just accumulated down there.

My new DeWalt reciprocating saw is pretty rockin’. It makes short work of taking out the baseplates in doorways and taking walls down.

Three more walls to go, electrical, a bit of plumbing and we’re all set for inspections… and then it’s DRYWALL TIME.

PowerBooking… one week later.

I’ve spent a week with this PowerBook, and I must say I’m really happy I bought it.

Loaded it up with 1.5GB of RAM but other than that it’s bone stock. I’ve also snagged a G-Technology G-Drive Mini (FireWire bus-powered mini-drive).

The keyboard is really really nice… and the fact that it lights up just adds to the coolness. I’m also a big fan of the auto-dimming screen. The screen is sharp and bright, but I would like more pixels (wouldn’t we all?). Battery life is good, but not outstanding… but that could be the fact that I haven’t played with the energy saver stuff either.

Photoshop and Dreamweaver work just like they do on the Windows desktop… just like I thought they would. :)
Size and weight are “just right”.

Go Apple.

WasherSo, I finished most of the plumbing for the basement bathroom. Just now, I realized that I forgot to break off a cold water supply line for the toilet. Whoops.

In any case, the project’s plugging along slowly but surely. Tomorrow (or during the week) I need to extend the back wall of the bathroom, put up the divider walls and put the face walls on the bathroom/laundry and utility rooms. Then I can put up the wall that divides my office off from the rest of the basement. At that point, it should be much easier to visualize.

Then it’s on to finishing the electrical and framing out the ceiling.

Busy week.

Chloe Gets a Brother

boxer2Well, almost. He’s 2 weeks here and we’ll get him when he’s 8 weeks… meaning mid-to-late July.

Names anyone?

Rafting

Rafting
Went rafting on Clear Creek this afternoon. Rafting company was Clear Creek Rafting and I’d have to rate their service as excellent. We did the intermediate run and were out for about 2.5 hours.

Dude, you’re getting a Mac

So, I’ve drunk the Kool-Aid. I’m a Mac user again after 5 years out of the game.

Tonight brought me a brand spankin’ new PowerBook G4 15″ w/ SuperDrive. So far, I’m enjoying it. Screen could be higher resolution, but damn is the keyboard sweet and it’s nice and snappy.

The keyboard light is pretty damn cool.

Basement Plans

Whee. I’d say the basement project’s about 50% done… maybe a little less.

The plumber’s coming tomorrow AM to run the drain/waste/vent lines for the powder room and laundry. When he’s done, I’ll stub out the supply lines and then finish up the framing and electrical.

Then it’s inspection time… and after we’ll have the drywallers come in and put the skin on the walls.

The end is in sight.
